ATLANTA - Tri-S Security Corp. announced yesterday that Vanguard Security, a subsidiary of its Cornwall Group, has been awarded an $8.7 million contract by the state of Florida to provide armed and unarmed guards to several state facilities.
The contract will begin next month and run for three years with three one-year renewals, generating about $1.45 annually, the company said.
Vanguard will staff state facilities in 11 locations including Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, West Palm Beach and Tallahassee.
"This is a first for Vanguard and now opens up the entire State of Florida for future business," Tri-S Security chief executive Ronald Farrell said in a statement. "This contract is hopefully the beginning of Vanguard's moving into new markets. We currently are bidding on over $25 million of contracts throughout the state of Florida. This was a plan we initiated during the first quarter of the year and are now seeing the results."
